Victoria Folk Music Society: Roland Barrett with Roger Plant
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Roland Barrett grew up moving from town to town across Canada, so as an adult he could not resist the urge to continue travelling. From living in little potato towns and on West Coast beaches, from crossing the country repeatedly by Greyhound or thumb, Rollie (as he likes to be called) has experienced the Canadian landscape and people up close and personal.
Rollie has performed at pubs, coffee shops, and resorts up and down Vancouver Island. He was awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for his musical efforts supporting charities.
Accompanied by guitar virtuoso Roger Plant, Rollie will perform his original roots musicstrongly influenced by Gordon Lightfoot, Blue Rodeo, Ray Lamontagne, and othersas well as a few covers of classic tunes by the likes of Neil Young and the Rolling Stones.
_______________
Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victorias best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evenings line-up.
