Victoria Folk Music Society presents: The Rabbleberries
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
The Rabbleberries are a quartet of musicians whose wide-ranging repertoire includes music for political gatherings and social causes, songs of the sea, songs about work and workers, traditional songs, originals by Alan O’Dean and Karen Gillmore, and generally whatever tickles the band’s musical fancy. Many of the songs feature choruses, so get ready to sing along!
The Rabbleberries’ sound is full of tasty vocal harmonies and flavorful guitar licks, spiced up with autoharp, flute, keyboard, banjo, mandola, thumb piano, harmonica, percussion, and electric bass.
The quartet is made up of Sharon Hazelwood on autoharp, tenor guitar, and percussion; Karen Gillmore on Irish banjo, flutes, guitar, and djembe; Alan O’Dean on guitar, mandola, five-string banjo, and autoharp; and Ron Gillmore on five-string electric bass. And everyone sings!

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
