Victoria Folk Music Society Presents: The Jocelyn Pettit Band

At just eighteen years of age, Jocelyn Pettit has a surprising amount of musical mileage behind her, having performed with the All-Star Fiddlers, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble, the Jocelyn Trio, and the Vancouver Scottish Fiddles. Her confident stage presence, as well as her step dancing and now-blazing, now-soulful fiddling, have won accolades at concerts and festivals across Canada, across the border, and across the pond.

Originally inspired by the driving fiddle music of Cape Breton, Jocelyn now enjoys creating original compositions as well as arrangements of Canadian, Scottish, and Irish tunes. Friends and family members on guitar, piano, and bodhran round out her current ensemble.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria�s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening�s line-up.
