Victoria Folk Music Society presents Terry Brennan with Roger Plant

Terry Brennans music blends the raw honesty of rock and country with the poetics and intelligence of the folk tradition. Made up of originals and a few old favorites, his repertoire features songs of bitter love, songs of social injustice, songs of leaving and loneliness, and songs of returning and joy. Terry spent his formative years in the folk clubs of Yorkville (a district of Toronto), whose stages were then graced by the likes of Phil Ochs, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Tom Rush, and Buffy Sainte-Marie. His subsequent life as a cowboy, forest ranger, actor, miner, and mountaineer provides grist for his mill as he writes and sings of the people and places hes known.
Terrys sideman Roger Plant plays rock-solid lead guitar in a wide variety of genres, ranging from blues to Texas swing.

The feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victorias best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evenings line-up.
