Victoria Folk Music Society presents Sue Decker

Sue Decker has come a long way since learning her first chords on a rented guitar at the Northern Bluegrass Circle jam in Edmonton. She is now a seasoned performer, her songs embodying the spirit of early blues, folk, bluegrass, and country music. Her themes are eclectic, as shes just as likely to find her muse in the poetry of Rumi (the 13th-century Sufi mystic), or at a campground in Wyoming, as she is in a Bessie Smith recording.
Solo performance is a new direction for Sue, after years of playing in a variety of Edmonton groups. Accompanying herself on guitar and dobro, she is excited to be sharing her music with our VFMS audience here at Norway House.

The feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victorias best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evenings line-up.
