Rick Scott is a singer, songwriter, and dulcimer player who combines music and laughter in lively, participatory concerts for all ages. Rick first rose to prominence on the Canadian folk scene in 1974 with Joe Mock and Shari Ulrich in B.C.’s legendary folk trio Pied Pumpkin. Since then he has released 18 albums and performed his original music in 9 countries. Rick’s penchant for combining wacky humour with poignant human commentary has earned him a devoted following around the world.
Rick lives on Protection Island, offshore of Nanaimo, with his longtime collaborator and producer Valley Hennell. He is curator of the inimitable Protection Island Museum and Goodwill Ambassador for the Down Syndrome Research Foundation.
“His gift for enriching and healing the human spirit will not soon be forgotten.” — Rogue Folk Review

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
