Victoria Folk Music Society presents: Peter Brunette and the Lake Hill Band

Adhering to the principle that everything old is new again—if you just wait long enough—Peter Brunette and the Lake Hill Band offer up a potpourri of folk classics and Peter’s originals that sound as much as possible like folk classics. Nothing “alt-” or “neo-” here, just plain, honest acoustic music that adheres to Harlan Howard’s time-tested formula: 3 chords and the truth.

A regular at Island folk clubs and coffee houses, Peter readily wins audiences over with his wry humour, his infectious enthusiasm for the music, and the homespun charm of his country-inflected vocals. Rounding out the band are Martin Redwood on lead guitar and backup vocals and Ken Wodlinger on upright bass and backup vocals.

Tonight’s performance celebrates the release of Peter’s album “Meadowlark” produced by Corwin Fox.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
