Victoria Folk Music Society Presents: Lindsay May
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Lindsay May is a guitar- and mandolin-wielding songstress whose velvety, alt-country vocals have been compared to Natalie Merchant, K.D. Lang, and Rosanne Cash. Born and raised in Kelowna, she knew from a young age that she wanted to make music and found that she had a knack for turning heartache into therapeutic verse and memorable melody.
Lindsay performs regularly at festivals, nightclubs, house concerts, and other venues across British Columbia. She has lived in Vancouver since 2004.
Lindsay May is blessed with killer pipes which can go all torch singer on a tune such as Stick Around, only to slide into seventies-style Laurel Canyon country-rock balladry on It Aint Easy Being Me. Every guitar slide and breathy vocal line is Nashville-quality (The Vancouver Province).

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victorias best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evenings line-up.
