Victoria Folk Music Society presents: Kristia Di Gregorio
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
A honeyed voice honed on Canadian folk tunes and jazz standards, Kristia Di Gregorio’s songs are drawn from a deep well of personal experience and historical influence. Originally from Vancouver, Kristia moved to Victoria a decade ago and settled in the Quadra-Hillside area (to be as close as possible to the VFMS, but of course!). Expect to be delighted by original tales and tunes as well as some ‘old familiars’!
Kristia will be accompanied by her husband Tony Di Gregorio on guitar and mandolin. Hailing from the musically rich city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tony studied classical music at Brandon University, but shortly thereafter left the cloistered halls of academia to grow his hair long, move to BC, and join a touring rock band (much to his mother’s chagrin). Since then, Tony’s musical life has gone through many transformations from performer to music instructor to music therapist to aspiring luthier.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
