Ian Tamblyn began writing songs, short stories, and plays at the age of 17. Since that time he has recorded 37 albums and written countless songs as well as 13 plays. Ian’s songs have been covered by numerous artists, and there is a tribute album of his work entitled “Coastline of our Dreams”.
Ian has several awards to his credit, including the 2013 Ontario Folk Award for Best Political Song (“Take the Mountain Down”) and the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for English Songwriter of the Year. He has conducted many songwriting workshops and holds an honorary doctorate from Lakehead University.
In the spring of 2014, Ian completed “The Labrador”, the fourth and last CD in his Four Coast Project series. Currently, he is writer in residence at Carleton University, teaching songwriting and composition to fourth-year music students. http://www.tamblyn.com

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
