Victoria Folk Music Society Presents: Dan Frechette & Laurel Thomsen,
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
From his quiet beginnings in Pinawa, Manitoba, Dan Frechette always knew he wanted to play music for a living. Hes now based in Winnipeg but has logged over 300,000 miles in his Toyota, sharing his songs of fate, struggle, growth, passion, joy, and the simple life with audiences at festivals, coffee shops, and house concerts.
Dans warm, rough-edged voice and intricate guitar style draw on many influences, from bluegrass to blues with a lot of folk in between.
Dan Frechette has never written a song I dont like, said Ismaila Alfa on CBC Radio. Considering that he has released over a dozen albums of original material, these are words to reckon with.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victorias best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evenings line-up.
