Victoria Folk Music Society presents: Chris Chandler & Paul Benoit
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Poet and storyteller Chris Chandler is as hilarious and entertaining as he is provocative and rabble-rousing, delivering vignettes about politics and modern culture with the fire of a Baptist Preacher. His appearances are insightful tales of a world gone slightly mad, accompanied by a wide variety of musical styles.
Originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia, Chris has been on or around the stage his whole life. He hit the road after graduation from the North Carolina School of the Performing Arts, including living in his car and joining a commune of traveling street musicians. These nomadic experiences naturally fed him into the world of activism.
He is joined by Paul Benoit, an impressive guitarist, singer and composer who hails from Seattle, Washington. For the past twenty years, Paul has performed and recorded his own music as well as partnering with other songwriters and musicians.

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
