The Victoria Folk Music Society returns to Camp Pringle on the peaceful shores of Shawnigan Lake for a cozy Autumn Retreat. The days and evenings will be filled with jamming, song circles, and conversation. It will be a relaxing, informal weekend with friends both old and new, sharing music, stories, and good food. You can offer to lead a workshop or a themed session, musical discussion, or song circle, or attend one—or more—and stretch your musical skills and repertoire.

Accommodations are varied sized shared rooms in heated lodges with shared bathrooms and hot showers. The bunks come equipped with a foam mattress, but you will need to bring your own bedding, towels, and personal necessities. Spaces are first come, first served, as you arrive and sign in.

The retreat begins Friday morning: NOT before 10 AM! All meals will be provided by the camp’s chef from Friday evening dinner to Sunday lunch; the retreat ends Sunday afternoon following lunch and cleanup. You may also bring snacks for yourself or to share, but the camp requests that there be NO PEANUTS in any of these.

As with our Folk Club itself, this is a volunteer-run event, and everyone is asked to pitch in on various activities (cleanup, etc.). Dishwashing will be done by the camp staff so you’ll have more free time to enjoy yourself!
