Victoria Conservatory of Music Piano Summer Academy concerts take place from July 2 to 13 at Philip T Young Recital Hall, University of Victoria. Evening concerts are at 7:30 pm; student recitals each week day at 1:00 pm. Admission is by donation to all concerts and recitals. Programs subject to change; see www.vic.bc.ca/summeracademy for more information.

Tentative Line-up:

Monday, July 2, 1 PM: Nicole Lavallee, Shane Beech, and Armand Saberi including the Moonlight Sonata of Beethoven

Monday, July 2, 7:30 PM: Michelle Mares and Mark Anderson: All-American Two Piano Favourites including Aaron Copland, William Bolcom, and Leonard Bernstein

Tuesday, July 3, 7:30: Susan de Burgh and Edwin LeBarron: Bizet Children's Games Opus 22, Debussy Petite Suite and Poulenc Concerto for Two Pianos with chamber orchestra.

Thursday, July 5, 7:30 Advanced Students of the Piano Academy

Friday, July 6, 7:30: Recital by two students: Carey Wang and Towa Stewart.

Carey Wang is recent winner of the City of Victoria Silver Medallion in the Open classes of the Greater Victoria Festival, and Towa Stewart is a multi award winning pianist from Campbell River.

Sunday July 8, 7:30: Bruce Vogt, Beethoven lecture recital featuring the Sonata Opus 111

Monday, July 9, 7:30: Karen Chan, featuring the Howard Ferguson Bagatelles, Bach, Haydn, Chopin, and Eckhardt-Gramatte Valse Chromatique

Tuesday, July 10, 7:30: Adult students of the Piano Academy in solo and duet performances

Thursday, July 12, 7:30: Chamber Music and Concerti, featuring our resident String Quartet in the Brahms G Minor Piano Quartet (Philip Manning, violin; Courtney Cameron, violin; Jessica Pickersgill, viola and Joyce Elwood, cello)

Friday, July 13, 6 PM and 8 PM Final Concerts, with a celebration reception at intermission; Students of the Piano Academy in solo and duet performances, and the Piano Academy Choir

Student lunch-hour concerts are held daily from 1:00-1:50pm. Open to the public.
