Join renowned local beer historian Greg Evans for an illustrated presentation exploring noteworthy pioneer brewers who established, developed and promoted Victoria’s brewing industry.

From Western Canada’s first commercial brewer, to a controversial and colourful MP, a shipwrecked castaway, and winners of international medals, the careers of these brewers illustrate the energy, adaptability and spirited entrepreneurship required for success in our city’s early years.

Greg Evans has shared his passion for brewing history and his knowledge of beer with audiences around the Pacific Northwest. In 1991, he completed a Master’s Degree that focused on the history of Vancouver Island’s brewing industry.

In addition to historical presentations, he writes about beer and brewing history and has acted as a consultant on several documentaries. He is an active member of CAMRA Victoria, The Brewery History Society of Great Britain and the Over The Rhine Brewery District Community Urban Redevelopment Corporation of Cincinnati.

$25 (plus tax) ticket to this event will grant:

Victoria Beer Week (March 7 - 15) is a nine-day series of events highlighting a broad selection of BC craft breweries while educating greater Victoria residents about craft beer. The week is bookended with large events that pair BC craft beer with local Victoria food vendors, with a clear focus on showcasing quality BC craft beer and educating beer enthusiasts.
