10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Get ready to rock, because the Victoria Conservatory of Music Open House Party is bringing the music to the street. The annual open house is bigger and louder than ever before. The school is throwing open the doors to its stunning home, which was built in 1890, and welcoming the community to the free celebration of all things musical.

With instrument petting zoos, mini lessons, fun for families, outstanding concerts, food and much more. “It’s an uplifting event for the community, and we welcome everyone to join us in celebrating the incredible world of music,” says Victoria Conservatory of Music CEO Jane Butler McGregor. “Music can play an important role in all our lives, from early childhood development to music therapy for seniors. There are so many incredible programs available and we’re excited to share the excellence the Conservatory offers.”

Guests will be invited to make music on all kinds of instruments at the rock instrument petting zoo, the traditional acoustic instrument petting zoo both hosted by Tom Lee Music, experience free mini lessons (being offered in all genres and instruments), and they will also learn about “Cassie”, the VCM’s one hundred and six year old Casavant organ. Families will have a blast playing musical games, , stopping by the candy buffet and chatting with VCM faculty to learn about music classes and lessons offered at both downtown and Langford locations.

And no VCM party would be complete without some face-painting and a take away musical goody bag. Local BBQ geniuses Pepperman’s Grill will be on site for the day, along with popcorn machines, coffee and other treats to keep guests fuelled for their creative odysseys.

The day also features hourly live performances on the Alix Goolden Hall stage. Conservatory faculty and students will entertain and inspire on a range of instruments in classical and contemporary styles.
