NEW at this years' Annual Open House, prospective members can not only enjoy a tour of our boats but a 1 hour FREE sail around Beautiful Departure Bay!

The Van Isle Sailing Co-op is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of sailing, the cooperative ownership of boats, and introducing people to the sport of sailing. The membership fees and annual dues are used to maintain the boats and pay for moorage and insurance. You will have the opportunity to sail with experienced sailors, and at work parties you will learn to maintain boats. Learning to Sail: Sailing experience is not needed to join the Co-op. New members will learn by crewing with experienced sailors. We offer, through local sailing schools, Canadian Yachting Association certification for basic cruising. Our Fleet: Our current fleet consists of 4 Catalina 27s which are used for local, overnight and weekend cruising. Cruises During the year, one to three day Co-op cruises are organized for members to learn about the many great destinations in our own back yard; the Gulf Islands.

Meetings and Social Events: Co-op meetings are held once a month usually the FIRST Thursday at the Kin Hut - Departure Bay Rd, Nanaimo and often include guest speakers. Social events include picnics, work parties & barbeques.
