A concert of classic compositions by organ giants Jack MacDuff and Jimmy Smith, as well as original compositions. Let's get deep in the groove!

Jazz organist and St. Francis Xavier professor Dr. Tony Genge (BMus ’79) and in-demand local drummer Kelby MacNayr (BMus ’04) are the special guests at the UVic School of Music for few days in January. Students will have the chance to perform, interact, and mentor with these two outstanding jazz musicians. Phil Dwyer has been a force on the international jazz scene for over two decades. A critically acclaimed composer, arranger, and musical director, as well as gifted, intuitive performer on both saxophone and piano, Dwyer has performed with everyone from Aretha Franklin, Ian Tyson, and Gino Vannelli to jazz greats like Red Rodney, Ingrid Jensen, Randy Brecker, Tom Harrell, Jim Hall, Dave Holland, Don Thompson, and many others.
