A Distinguished Women Scholars Public lecture hosted by the Department of Greek and Roman Studies presents:

Dr. Joy Connolly (President, American Council of Learned Societies) will present a lecture entitled:

Migrancy and the Formation of Ancient Roman Literary Culture

Dr. Joy Connolly has published widely on Roman literary culture and especially its impact on contemporary literary culture. This talk argues that migrancy is the best lens through which to read and interpret what used to be called the “golden age” of Roman literature – works produced at a time when humans moved from where they were born to other places (voluntarily or not) at a rate higher than ever before in human history.
