Soprano Heather Pawsey presents unheard, a multimedia recital of new works for solo voice from Canadian composers exploring narrative experiences of women often silenced in literature, history, and mythology.
Partially staged and framed within photographs by artist Maggie MacPherson, with performative costuming by Diane Park, unheard features the world premiere of British Columbia composer Jeffrey Ryan’s a cappella unheard songs with texts by Vancouver Poet Laureate Rachel Rose; British Columbia composer Anna Pidgnora’s Off the Voice; and R. Murray Schafer’s Aria of the Princess from The Princess of the Stars.
