Uncle Wiggly's Tribute to the Blues Songs of Christmas
Uncle Wiggly’s Hot Shoes Blues Band has been around since 1978, are former RCA Recording Artists and members of the Victoria Music Hall of Fame. They toured extensively in the 80′s opening for such legends as Muddy Waters, Joe Cocker, James Cotton, Koko Taylor and Paul Butterfield to name a few. Additionally, in January of 2015 UWHSBB had the opportunity to represent British Columbia in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge.
They have been performing this Tribute to the Blues Songs of Christmas for the past three years and are looking forward to bringing their special Christmas Show back to the Mary Winspear Charlie White Theatre for the second year on Monday December 12, 2016.
This show is a collection of traditional Blues Christmas tunes from the 20's, 30's, 40's 50's and 60's by the likes of Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, BB King, Eric Clapton, Charles Brown, Etta James and many more.
This show played to sold out houses and standing ovations in Alberta and BC last winter and rave reviews on the Island shows.
This is not the usual Christmas Show of standard Christmas carols you know but a tribute that gives you a look into the souls of these fabulous Blues Legends by sharing the Christmas Blues songs written by them. You will find it a very refreshing take on a Christmas Music Show.
The band is made up of members of UWHSBB Hank (Uncle Wiggly) Lionhart - Vocals, Mark (Westcoast) Comerford - Guitar, Andy Graffiti - Drums, (Lightnin) Lonnie Glass - Bass, Wynn Gogol - Keyboards, Dave (The Duck) Rowse - Sax, Wayne Kozak - Sax, Bryn Badel - Trumpet and Deb Rhymer - Vocals.
They will have a new Christmas CD this season (recorded during last season’s tour) available at the show.
