Presenters:
1. David Grove, owner of an electric vehicle and the Royal Bay Bakery in Colwood (www.royalbaybakery.com) where he installed the West Shore's first public electric vehicle charging station.
2. Joe Squire, Senior Consultant and Product Specialist with Sun Country Highway, a Canadian company which has 500 electric vehicle charging stations coming online across the country, and supports electric transportation.
Why does a baker decide to buy a Nissan Leaf for his business, and then charge it with solar panels on the roof? David will tell us how it started before he was 14, and how it feels to drive down the road powered by sunshine.
Joe will tell us about his experiences in a mission to provide new manufacturing and supply chain services that have never been considered or available in the past, and save the public, municipalities, fleets, and businesses tens of thousands of dollars per year in non-sustainable fuel costs.
Sun Country Highway (www.suncountryhighway.ca) is a new company creating a movement of electric transportation supporters across Canada. They have committed to placing electric vehicle chargers from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland by December 2012. To date they are ahead of schedule with over 500 stations coming online across Canada! By June 20, Vancouver Island was populated with enough EVCs to permit an EV owner to drive from all corners of the island, making it the most EV friendly island in the world.
