The history of the traveler�s sketching journal goes back to the earliest field naturalists and explorers. Separating the travel sketcher from the usual tourist is the care and quality of attention the sketchers pay to their unique and immediate surroundings. When opened years after the trip, these personal, illustrated volumes are invaluable for stimulating memories and recalling a much richer experience than available through simple snapshot photographs. Using a personalized kit that�s not much bigger than your passport you will be able to create colourful, small-size artworks and illustrated travel journals anyplace you go, from tropical beaches to Parisian cafes.

$60 traveling mini-studio kit, available from the instructor � please reserve your kit well in advance!

Skill Level:
No previous art experience necessary, though artists would find this workshop an eye- opening experience.

About your instructor � Claudia Lorenz, Med (Arts) ([email protected]):
Claudia is a teacher, traveler, eco-activist, and award winning artist working in photography and mixed media for the past 14 years, exhibiting both locally and in the USA. Her immersive arts practice consists of connecting the hand, heart and the eye through intuitive gestures and unpremeditated �seeing� of the world, allowing discoveries to unfold in unexpected, wonderful dimensions. Claudia is an Adult Art Educator at the University of Victoria Dept. of Continuing Education and the District of Saanich Community Recreation facilities. She owns and operates a specialty photography business. Her photographs frequently appear in international publications.
