Tourism Vancouver Island invites all tourism stakeholders to Vancouver Islands biggest tourism industry event of the year. The associations 50th Annual Conference and AGM, hosted by the Alberni Valley will take place September 24-26, 2013. Delegates will be immersed in an array of experiences as they discover what will be an unforgettable adventure in the Alberni Valley.

The 50th anniversary celebration will officially kick off on September 24th with the ever popular Annual Golf Classic at the Alberni Golf Club. Golfers will try their luck at winning one of the many great prizes up for grabs this year including a $5000 media advertising campaign with Newad. After attempting to win bragging rights on the green, delegates will embark on a three-hour tour of the valleys majestic inlet aboard the historic MV Francis Barkley for a welcome reception in natures splendor. This years community activity will bring all conference delegates together for a trip on the Alberni Pacific railway out to the Mclean Steam Sawmill. Refreshments and networking will be enjoyed as delegates discover British Columbias forest legacy, with an authentic and unique snapshot of the past.

Education sessions, live and silent auctions, the Gala Dinner, Vancouver Island Tourism Industry Awards and the business meeting will be held at the Best Western Plus Barclay Hotel during September 25 & 26. All meals provided during the event will focus on the 50 mile diet and will feature locally-produced goods and products.

An exciting line-up of guest speakers and presenters include Andrea Shaw, Chair of Destination BCs Board of Directors, who will address delegates with the future of Destination British Columbia as well as global trends as they relate to Vancouver Island and British Columbia. Kate Shaw, Project Manager for GreenStep Solutions will focus on Sustainable Tourism and the Green Tourism Canada Program.
