The 19th annual Tofino Shorebird Festival kicks off at Jamie’s Restaurant and Lounge. Meet other shorebird enthusiasts and enjoy a delicious spread of snack platters, and a selection of craft beer from Tofino Brewery. Full restaurant service and $5 Tofino Brewery pints will be available all night long. Featuring special musical guest (and seabird biologist) Jill Robinson!
$10 admission includes light snacks, music, and lecture ticket.
Evening Lecture: Dr. Mark Drever - Monitoring northward migration of shorebirds in British Columbia
Shorebird migration remains one of the great ornithological spectacles in North America. The Canadian Wildlife Service monitors this migration at a set of key sites in British Columbia to assess the health of shorebird populations. This talk will review monitoring efforts over the past 25 years, and provide an overview of conservation concerns for shorebirds in British Columbia.
