Eliza Gardiner and the Vancouver Island University Faculty Association's Human Rights and International Solidarity Committee proudly present Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" plus her new production "A Rant, A Memory, A Monologue and A Prayer".
The plays will raise awareness and funds for the internationally renowned V-Day campaign, and our local beneficiary, the Nanaimo Women's Resources Society. V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls. Each year, "The Vagina Monologues" is a fresh production and includes the latest of Ensler's monologues. This year it is directed by Jennifer Kelly. "The Rant" is a compilation of dramatic and poetic pieces by diverse writers that features male performers: it is a call to action and outreach to men to become allies in the movement to end violence.
VIU faculty and students, along with many dedicated community volunteers, are participating in this year's shows.
Tickets are: Adults $15 ($25 for two shows); Students/Seniors $10 ($15 for two shows).
Available at the Nanaimo Women's Resources Society at 285 Selby Street and at both locations of the Nanaimo Art Gallery: downtown at 150 Commercial Street and on the VIU Campus at 900 Fifth Street.
