The TONY FOSTER TRIO - July 23rd.
We have a superb "pop up" event with one of West Coast Canada's most elusive Trio's coming up Sunday 23rd, 7:30pm at the Simonholt Restaurant.
The band is The Tony Foster Trio, featuring the amazing Tony Foster (keys), Sean Drabitt (bass) and Joe Poole (drums).
Joining Tony at Simon Holt will be bassist Sean Drabitt (Victoria/NYC), and Vancouver jazz star drummer Joe Poole. The trio has been performing together whenever possible for close to 5 years now, and will be covering material from some of the great jazz pianists of our time, with a special tribute to the very influential Ahmad Jamal who recently passed away in April at the age of 92. Jamal’s playing has heavily influenced not only Foster, Drabitt and Poole, but the entire jazz world. Other material will include compositions and works of McCoy Tyner, Oscar Peterson, and Phineas Newborn Jr., Erroll Garner, and Art Tatum
