On Sunday, February 19 at 2:30 p.m. Open Space presents a concert of the rarely heard sound poetry of Greta Monach.
The works will be performed by local musicians Cathy Fern Lewis, Christopher Butterfield, Daniel Brandes, and Laura Brandes.
The Sound Poetry of Greta Monach is rarely heard. Even a google search of her work only finds a handful of examples of her work. Monach’s sound poetry is often made up of single spoken sounds, abstracting words to their pure elements. Some of the poems are written to be performed by a single voice, others up to a quartet of voices. When seen on paper, they resemble musical score more than written poetry.
Performers Cathy Fern Lewis, Christopher Butterfield, Daniel Brandes, and Laura Brandes originally presented this concert at A Place To Listen in early 2015. Due to the evocative and compelling nature of these works, it is with pleasure that Open Space provides the opportunity to hear them again.
