This annual cycling event in support of the Victoria Hospice takes places on Sunday, September 8.

In memory of Ambriss Clermont. Ambriss was a co-owner of Russ Hay's The Bicycle Shop from 1974 to 2012. When Ambriss was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Victoria Hospice provided a great deal of support to the family. As a result of the outstanding care and support Ambriss and her family received, Mike Clermont wanted to organize an annual cycling event in memory of his wife and business partner that would acknowledge the amazing work that Victoria Hospice does for this community.

About the Ride

The ride starts at the Russ Hay's location in Victoria at 650 Hillside Avenue. The event has three ride distances--60 km, 125 km and 270 km--allowing beginners to intermediate to participate. Food and drink will be provided before and after each ride at the Russ Hay's location as well as coffee and snacks for those doing the medium and long routes. There will be a Russ Hay's support van following the entire long loop and the first half of the medium loop. The van will be providing food, drink, and mechanical support, as well as spare clothing. It is also there to assist any riders who are unable to continue.

The short loop will travel the peninsula on Lochside Trail around the airport.

The medium loop and long loop riders will travel to North Cowichan via Shawnigan Lake and the Kinsol tressel, over 10km of hard packed gravel.

After a stop for coffee and snacks at Glenora, the medium loop riders will head back to town through the Cowichan Valley and the long loop riders will continue along the gravel trail to Lake Cowichan. Continuing on the Pacific Marine highway to Port Renfrew and then back to Victoria for a total of 270 km. This loop includes 40 km of gravel on the Trans Canada Trail.
