This course bridges the differences between photography, painting and mixed media and uses the photograph as a point of departure for subject and content. Students will learn varied techniques and applications of mixed media (chalks, coloured pencils, acrylic paints and glazes) to photographs and photographic transparencies.

Topics include the use and applications of a range of materials and various techniques such as: back painting, negative space or reductive painting, glazing, scraffito and markmaking. This is a great course for those who love to take or collect photos and are wondering how to use these images in their work. Instructor: Tony Bounsall
