The Newcombe Singers Proudly Present “A Glorious Christmas Journey” Featuring the sublime Johann Sebastian Bach’s Christmas Cantata BVW191 “Gloria in Excelsis Deo” with the Newcombe Camerata Orchestra and other classic carols of the season some smooth jazz and great pizzaz!

We love our “Newcombers”. Together, we make beautiful music. Check us out at www.newcombesingers.com. The Newcombe Singers is a non-profit, non-auditioned 4-part choir. Our practices are held at St. Mary’s Church, 1701 Elgin Rd. in Oak Bay on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30. Our Spring 2016 season begins on January 5th. You are welcome to join us for 3 complimentary sessions before joining the Newcombes. We have a long and proud history of community service through song in Victoria. In 1967, members of the British Columbia Civil Service formed an informal choir to provide musical entertainment for colleagues and the general public during the Christmas season. Since that time the Newcombe Singers have expanded their horizons to performing locally and internationally throughout the year.

Under the direction of our very talented conductor, Peter Dent, the Newcombe Singers perform both Spring and Winter Concerts at many local seniors lodges, as well as Christmas and Remembrance Day Concerts for the Legislature. As well, there are many amazing performance opportunities abroad.

Each year, many “Newcombes” travel to perform in Cuba, Europe, and New York. This past summer many of our choir members performed “Faure’s Requiem” at Carnegie Hall in New York. The “Faure” was a collaborative choral undertaking by the esteemed conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Travel opportunities for choir members are funded solely by the members themselves. Plans are well underway this year for another amazing European Choral Performance Tour with our conductor, Peter Dent. Travellers love to visit the magnificent cathedrals of Europe. Now imagine singing in them! Or visiting New York and singing in Carnegie Hall. Maybe a singing tour in Cuba?

We do hope that we can count on your support at our “Glorious Christmas Journey” concert. By doing so, you will be helping to sustain great choral music programs, like ours, in our beautiful city.
