This visually stimulating seminar course explores contemporary craft's multiple and intersecting connections with race, cultural identity, affect (those difficult to describe feelings, which seem to 'stick' to us) and gender identity. We will consider the exciting work of many artists including, Ursula Johnson, Catherine Blackburn, Billie Zangewa, Kate Just and Anna Torma. A new question will be explored each week, the two hour weekly class is made up of lectures, readings, class discussion and student presentations. Suitable for beginners. No studio experience or prior knowledge of craft history necessary.
