Thursday, March 13th, 2014
7:30 PM to 9:00 PM

In 1949, the quiet and isolation at the end of a logging spur in the Nanaimo River Valley drew legendary inventor/engineer/poet Robert Eugene Swanson to build a rustic research and development facility that became known as the Whistle Farm - where he designed and tuned his patented multi-chime air horns for diesel-powered locomotives and ships.

His company, Airchime, grew out of the Whistle Farm to become the prominent name - and sound - in railroad air horns in North America. Swanson and the Whistle Farm left behind an aural legacy still heard far and wide everyday. Amazingly these notes were struck here first.
