THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
"Honouring the Art and Craft of Song" The Listening Space is a collective of singer songwriters who offer Vancouver Island audiences an up close and personal experience with local performers and their original compositions.
VICTOR ANTHONY Victor Anthony’s friends joke that he came into the world with a guitar in one hand and a camera in the other. He made a living for thirty years in Nashville as a musician, actor and photographer until he and his wife, Joëlle, moved to Gabriola Island in 2007. His music is in the roots tradition of the American South but the lyrics are up-to-date vignettes of life and love, full of rich visual imagery and simple truth. To date, he has released four CDs of original material. His latest, Mystery Loves Company, can be heard online here.
Bobbi Schram is a long time Nanaimo resident. Her parents taught her to love pop and folk from the Beatles to Joni Mitchell to Elton John. She got her first guitar at 13, was composing by age 15 and found the piano at 18. She taught herself enough piano to create her own easy-listening ballads based around a story or moral. Bobbi has recorded fourteen of her songs at Raincoast Studio backed by her piano and guitar. Hear them online here.
Carrie Ingrisano’s romantic ballad style was formed in the art and festival scene of Chicago. She moved to Nanaimo in 2013 and has most recently been the vocalist for TerraZetto, a local world music trio, with whom she also plays guitar and bass. Carrie writes in French as well as English. You can hear some of her original songs recorded in Chicago (tracks 1, 3, 7, 10 & 12) online here.
Jeff Edwards recently moved to Nanaimo after 30 years in Vancouver. He has been writing songs since he played lead guitar in a college band. Along the way he developed a unique finger-picking guitar style. Half of his songs reflect a base in blues, folk, country and pop and the rest occupy their own universe.
