Zachary Stevenson is not just an impersonator he represents Buddy Holly so perfectly that we are seemingly watching a genuine replica of the nerdy young Texan whose meteoric rise and sudden death have become legendary fodder for all of us rocknrollers of a certain age. Stevenson has the guitar licks down to a t and his superb vocals make him equally comfortable with the sweet ballads, on-the-edge rock-a-billy songs and everything in between including Hollys trademark hiccup and energetic dance moves that often brings the audience to their feet.
Stevensons outstanding performance is the second part of the concert after an opening set of equally show-stopping work from Kieran Martin Murphy as JP Richardson (aka The Big Bopper) and Michael Scholar Jr. as Ritchie Valens.
The Buddy Holly Story In Concert - is a tribute the historic 1959 Winter Dance Party and their last concert at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa after which all three singers were killed in a plane crash.
