The Italians invented music notation, violins, and opera - all the things in life I can't imagine living without. I am touched that they would want to bring us Canadian music.
My wife and I spent last winter in Italy, where I worked on my opera "Precari". We met a lovely string quartet in Spoleto the members of which quite loved my music. After they looked it over they said, "You must be quite famous in Canada?" Gently I replied, "Not so much! We don't actually DO famous in Canada!" They decided to perform my music in Italy, then come here. If you have no idea what Canadian music is, having lived here all your life, then this is the concert for you! If you can't hum something from the concert, come and see me, and I'll give you your money back! -Brent Straughan
