Remember Days of Wine and Roses, The Summer Wind, and Don't Fence Me In? How about Cole Porter, Henry Mancini, or Hoagy Carmichael? In arrangements from swing to salsa, Dave Klinger and Friends will present songs, stories and fun during this concert.
We are: JEANIE PATERSON-vocals, Dave Klinger -piano, Michael Wright-drums, and Brian McMahon-bass.
Before the age of the 'singer-songwriter,' there was a period of 40 years or so in the middle of the last century when writing music and lyrics was the domain of real professionals. We are fortunate to have inherited this huge catalog of well-remembered songs, which are known collectively as the Great American Songbook.
Cole Porter was an American composer and songwriter who lived from 1891 to 1964. He is one of the twentieth century's greatest songwriters. Porter is recognized in the Great American Songbook hall of Fame for his "musically complex songs with witty, urbane lyrics, and many of his scores found success on Broadway and in film. "These songs make you want to dance and sing," says Klinger. "They're full of joy and happiness."
