Queen of Angels School Council are hosting a presentation by Dr. Ian Cameron, Professor at the University of Victoria Parents and teachers are invited to attend. Dr Cameron will help us understand the strengths and weaknesses of the reports and how to benefit from this information.

Everyone in the community is welcome.

From Dr. Cameron:
"Provincial tests of basic skills are well constructed and accurate. If the Institute grouped the schools according to size, and the SES of catchment area (independent schools would be grouped differently), and compared apples to apples and oranges to oranges, they'd make a real contribution to education in BC. As it is, the only positive effect comes when schools themselves do what the Institute, or better still the Ministry, should be doing, and compare their results to those of similar schools. Note that the Institute has started doing something along those lines by reporting on schools that have improved or done less well than in previous years".
