The Deep Sea Gypsies - Live at the Waverley

Born in a modern era with vintage dreams, The Deep Sea Gypsies offer a sound that is all their own, playing an original innovative combination of 60’s psych blues rock, 70’s southern rock and hip hop. Strongly influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin (watch for the tattoos), Rory Gallagher, Muddy Waters, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, the homage is fierce and true.
Loke Webb and Johnny Regimbal, the band’s song writers, vocalists and guitarists, bring their messages of life and love to the forefront. With hip-hop stylings and smooth, bluesy choruses over shredding riffs and incredible solos, they bring a unique combination to the stage. Greg Moore drives a solid back end on the drums with classic, John Bonham-like rolls, while bassist, Marty Boggs, fills in the groove with his fast paced licks and energetic stage presence.
Hailing from the south end of the Island, the Gypsies have previously visited the Comox Valley as featured acts at Rock The Block, Rhythm on the Rock and Elevate Arts Festivals – rocking out the latter on the riverside at Cona Hostel was a particular highlight. They have been heard lately onThe Goat 98.9 FM here in the Valley, and were recently a featured GO! Interview on Shaw TV.
Accompanying the boys on this trip are Band of Rascals, also from Victoria – self-described as “some of the finest foot stompin, hoot’n n holler’n, hoe down, craze driven, tasty blues born rock n roll that you’ll find this side of the country.” Band of Rascals just released their debut EP and won “Band of the Month” on Victoria’s The Zone radio… celebrating with an opening spot for Jesse Roper at Sugar Nightclub to rave reviews.
