The Carolina Bluebirds enjoy sharing their love of cheerful and moving songs from the early- to mid-1900s, and introducing modern audiences to gems that were popular in their time but are rarely heard any more. Caroline Covil (vocals) is joined by Ian Johnston (guitar, ukulele, banjo ukulele, and vocals) and Graeme Card (guitar, vocals). Caroline’s clear, sweet soprano vocals and warm delivery suit the music perfectly and is balanced by Ian and Graeme’s ragtime guitar-picking.
Ian and Graeme are long-time musicians in Victoria: Ian with bands such as RIG-A-JIG and The Slowpokes; and Graeme with JUGBANDITS! and The Chattering Class. Newcomer, Caroline, has spent more than a decade observing the musical peregrinations of her husband Ian, absorbing the music he was making while singing quietly in the background. The trio first got together in 2013 at the urging of Graeme, who heard in her voice a huge natural potential.
