The BC Societies Act – Transition and compliance basics!
No more procrastinating…

By November 28, 2018, your constitution and bylaws must be transitioned onto the British Columbia Registrar of Companies electronic system. And, regardless of when you make that transition your society must act in accordance with the provisions of the new Act.
The BC Societies Act has changes that must be implemented ‘as is’ and areas where a Society may make decisions to best suit their organization. This workshop focuses on supporting you to not only meet the November 28th transition deadline but to also address aspects related to compliance with the Act.
Designed with sufficient time to pose broad-based questions and exchangeideas with your colleagues, this workshop will:
• provide a concise overview of key changes in the Act,
• map options for transitioning your constitution and bylaws, and
• explore tactics for becoming compliant with the Act.

About the Facilitators:
Claire Rettie, MA CPCC is the principal of Borealis Coaching | Consulting (Ltd.). Claire has been a consultant and leader in change and transformation for close to 30 years. Her non-profit portfolio includes strategic leadership, planning and board governance initiatives for local, national and international organizations. Since 2010 she has been teaching Improving Non-Profit Governance with Dalhousie University.

Who should attend? You should attend if you’re one of the board members responsible for redoing your Constitution and Bylaws or if you’re the senior manager – and you’ll get the most out of the workshops if you come together.
