The Art of Filigree - Workshop
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
Join us in the Metal Jewellery Studio at NIC! Filigree is a very ancient form of open backed wirework still used in many cultures all over the world today. Many contemporary craftspersons have created non-traditional pieces of filigree taking advantage of its continued popularity.
Students will saw, solder, file, manipulate wire and sheet metal, drop a small stone if desired, polish, create earwires, and generally advance their skill level. This class is all about exploring this ancient technique but applying a contemporary twist; the results will be amazing!
Some experience in jewellery making is recommended. Note: Materials are provided and included in the price.
See the supply list online for additional items you need to bring from home. Register online with course code GENI 1218. Visit www.nic.bc.ca/ce for a full list of jewellery workshops at North Island College!
