The 2nd Annual Old-Time Tidal Wave

The Old-time Tidal Wave brings together mentors, instructors and musicians from across the Pacific Northwest, including Vancouver Island's own. This is working people�s music and the whole community is invited to come listen, dance, jam late, and partake in the workshops too.
Friday evening's concert features acts brought in from Bellingham WA, Cumberland BC, Seattle WA, Vancouver, and Victoria. (see below)
On Saturday workshops will be presented, including fiddle, banjo, singing, and clogging; a Bluegrass Brunch; a Kid's Kick-off Square dance; more Square dancing with callers teaching you the moves on the spot; plus late night couples dancing to Old-time Country and Honky Tonk.
This is a real community event and venues include St Andrew�s Church at 924 Douglas Street, Logan�s Pub at 1821 Cook Street, the Fernwood Community Centre at 1240 Gladstone, and the Kirk Hall at 680 Courtney Street.

Charlie Beck (banjo, fiddle, vocals) and Charmaine Slaven (guitar, vocals, feet, square dance caller) perform traditional and original music influenced by Appalachian, early country, jugband, and blues artists from the late 1800's through the 1950's.

Oliver has an astonishing vocal range and an undeniable skill behind a banjo or upright bass. He delivers his own brand of alternative folk and traditional music with a smile and a twinkle in his eye.
The Cumberland Brothers (Cumberland) http://www.thecumberlandbrothers.com/
Archie Pateman on guitar and banjo, and Jack Roland on fiddle, specialize in brother harmony style country music, mixing old country songs by artists like the Louvin Brothers and the Delmore Brothers with original tunes penned by Archie Pateman.

Devin Champlin on fiddle and mandolin, and Katy Harris on guitar, play old time fiddle tunes, blues and rags,and they love to sing old songs too.

Hannah Walker and Jamie Elliot, together they bring you an intimate folk/roots performance with strong harmonies and original songs.

Paul is a unique and versatile performer. As a banjo player he explores a variety of intriguing Americana and as a square dance caller he brings spark to events, entertaining audiences and promoting connection.
YOMADA House Stringband (Victoria) http://www.yomada.ca/
YOMADA is the young, old-time, music and dance association. YOMADA's House Stringband includes players Damian Ritchie, Ruari McLennean, Alan Law, and Lisa Feeney along with dance caller Craig Marcuk. They enjoy connecting dance music of the old-time tradition with modern day dancers and are sure to get you off your seat and on to your feet with called dances and fast paced old-time music.
