This small Silk Marionette Puppet Theatre invites teens, parents and/or grandparents, to join these fun, gentle weekly classes and explore the magic of the floating silk puppet genre.
Wednesdays 10:00 - 12:00 noon
Cost: FREE
Duration: 8 - 10 weeks
Meet & Greet and Intro will be Feb. 19 and 26.
Maximum 8 new participants. The goal for the gentle and fun classes is to prepare a puppetry folktale about a kind horse and a phoenix. We will perform the folktale for young children and families sometime in the spring, when we are ready. No experience necessary. The puppets and the 10' wide theatre stage have been pre-made and are waiting for the new puppeteers.
Must be able to walk back and forth behind the puppet stage.
Suitable for shy and non-shy participants. There are speaking parts and non-speaking parts. Anja is an experienced puppeteer with extensive theatre training. Her puppet theatre has performed small shows in Cowichan Valley for several years. They have welcomed new puppeteers without advertising, spreading the information by word of mouth to friends, family and neighbours.
Classes held in a private home on Gibbins Rd, very close to the Cowichan Hospital. Details given as each family registers or inquires. phone Anja 250 732 - 8440 or [email protected]
This genre of puppetry is inspired by Waldorf philosophy but welcomes people of all faiths and non-faiths. The topic of faith rarely, if ever, comes up in the classes. We are too busy having fun and learning to move the puppets.
Please bring a water bottle to classes and wear comfy clothes.
