8:00 PM to 10:00 PM

“A treasure that is quietly evolving into one of the premier vocalists of our time.”– CRITICAL JAZZ Vancouver’s JACLYN GUILLOU has a passion for living life with pure intention and being true to natural musical instincts, refusing to shy away from making her voice the main instrument. Formative pop listening experiences included Joni Mitchell and Ricki Lee Jones, and the discovery of a whole universe of jazz singers that influence where Guillou is now.

Her fourth album, This Bitter Earth, was released in early March and was immediately nominated for a 2016 Juno for Best Vocal Jazz Album. Earth is a strong crossover album that stemmed from a tribute concert to legendary jazz and blues vocalist Dinah Washington organized by the CBC for TV and radio.

Things have moved fast in the world of Jaclyn Guillou since she last appeared at JazzFest in 2013! Jillian Lebeck piano, Darren Radtke bass, and Bernie Arai drums Series sponsored by: CBC RADIO ONE
