Frank Alkyer, publisher of Downbeat, called trumpeter Dave Douglas the “unassuming king of independent jazz.” Together with High Risk and Shigeto, Douglas fuses melodic lyricism, textured electronics, and deep bass lines. High Risk is a new quartet at the vanguard of electronic music and improvised modern jazz.
Led by Dave Douglas, this group includes Jonathon Maron bass, Mark Guiliana drums, and features percussionist and electronic musician extraordinaire Shigeto. Douglas has earned a Guggenheim Fellowship, an Aaron Copland award, and two Grammy nominations.
