Eliane Elias Made in Brazil featuring Marc Johnson, bass; Rafael Barata, drums; and Rubens De Lacorte, guitar.
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Eliane Elias has had an impressive 35-year career at the intersection of jazz, Brazilian, classical, and pop music. A pianist, singer, and composer, Elias has recorded over 20 albums and received five Grammy nominations (including one for a series of duets with Herbie Hancock). She was the first woman instrumentalist to be featured on the cover of Downbeat and is an artist with a truly global reach. Her soon to be released CD on Concord Jazz, Made in Brazil, is a lyrical showcase of bossa nova and samba rhythms that combines six Elias originals with classic tunes by three generations of Brazilian composers.
