By playwright Molière Directed by Leon Potter Condemned and banned for five years in Molière's time, Tartuffe is a satire on hypocrisy.
Tartuffe is an opportunist and swindler who is invited to live in the home of Orgon, an affluent bourgeois concerned with his own salvation. As Orgon attempts to turn over his fortune, disinherit his children, and offer his daughter in marriage to his "spiritual guide," Tartuffe wreaks havoc among the family members and nearly seduces Orgon's wife.
