Canadian-born, New Zealand-based vocalist extraordinaire Tami Neilson has become one of the hottest country & soul singer/songwriters, thanks to heart, authenticity, and her killer live performances. Since relocating south of the equator 10 years ago, Neilson has become one of New Zealand’s biggest acts and is the most highly awarded artist of any genre in the country! Her newest release, Don’t Be Afraid, finds the soul taking over the country, as Neilson’s fierce vocals reveal the influence of soul/R&B giants Mavis Staples and Tina Turner. With a voice dripping with tears and twang, Tami has become one of country music’s defining artists. She makes her TD JazzFest debut after her show-stealing performances opening for legendary blues-rocker Colin James on his most recent tour, including their stop at the Royal Theatre in March.
