Celtic Storyteller to Entertain at the MAC

The very popular storytelling series, Tales for the Telling, Stories for Adults, has invited Celtic storyteller Mary Gavan to its stage for February 28.

Dying to Tell: Stories by a Celtic Midwife to the Dying are life stories told with delight, humour, and fondness.

This show has toured Canada to rave reviews and is now being brought to Vancouver Island.

A former palliative care nurse, Mary spent many hours at the bedside of those who were gently leaving this life. She listened to their tales and now is honouring them by recounting their life stories.

Told from a comforting viewpoint and in a soft, lilting voice, these stories honour the dying and pay tribute to their family, friends and volunteers.

Raised in Scotland & Ireland, Mary trained as a nurse at Edinburgh University, specialising in Palliative Care. At the same time, she developed her storytelling skills. This show comes out of her PhD dissertation in Thanatology, the study of death and dying, combining her lifes work with the dying and in storytelling.

Mary has produced a CD Celtic Otherworld which won a World Storytelling Award, and will be available for purchase.
